The laser is a light-source energy attracted to the pigments contained in the hair (melanin) and guided to the root (hair bulb), destroying it without touching the rest of the skin. Each laser has its own precise wavelength, matching a precise target: for acne rosacea, the target is the haemoglobin, for hairs and brown spots it is melanin and for tattoos it is the ink pigments. These treatments do not cause any scarring or after-effects on the skin. The hair growth cycle consists of three phases: It is only during the growth phase that the laser is capable of destroying the hair bulb. The laser is not active when the hair dies or is resting. The hairs are not all in the same phase at the same time; it is known, however, that at each moment some of the hairs are in the right phase and may be destroyed.
Treatment takes place under medical supervision, without anaesthesia, and requires no absence from work. The doctor decides on the number of treatments, depending on the number of areas needing treatment. Skin preparation: the skin is prepared by simply removing all traces of cream or makeup (this is done on the spot with the technician). If you use a razor, the hairs in the area to be treated must be shaved the day before or the day of the first treatment. If you normally use a wax depilatory, you must wait a week before your first appointment. The interval depends on the duration of the hair cycle and the area treated; depending on regrowth, you will be informed at each session.
After each session you must apply Biafine( on the treated areas for at least two days. It is important to respect the interval between sessions so as not to lose the benefit of the previous sessions. Exposure to the sun is prohibited throughout the period of treatment. |
